MumenTum week 2

I am a little late in posting this weeks Mumentum as it should happen on a Monday but I am still drowning under a pile of work that I just don't seem to be getting on top of and I was also sulking to be perfectly honest.

When I joined Mumentum I decided I would do a weekly Monday weigh in. I tried really hard last week, had salad everyday (made even nice by the fact for the first time ever I was able to pick the lettuce from my own greenhouse), I ate loads of fruit, didn't have any biscuits, or crisps, and yes I did have a takeaway but felt good about myself as I only ate half of it, instead deciding to leave the other half to re-heat on Saturday but as it was my mum and dad invited us round for a BBQ so I binned the remainder. At the BBQ I had a small burger and salad again and refused cheesecake after. On Sunday we took the kids to the beach and again was very proud of myself for deciding not to have an ice cream and when we ate out for tea I opted for Salmon and veg. So you can imagine how gutted I was to stand on the scales on Monday morning and see that I had actually gained another 1lb and a half, so that's 3 and a half pound gain since starting this.  I was majorly upset!

However, today I have decided to stop sulking (I still haven't succumbed to the comfort eating either).

So lets hope next week is a better one.  I need to increase my exercise, all I am doing at the mo is sitting at my desk but as I work from home, I have decided to try and at least use my house as a gym - weird I know but a friend of mine actually had a personal trainer come to her house to show her how to use it as a gym - really I am not kidding! I have found the last few days that once I have lunch, even if it is salad and fruit I am having a major crash and can't concentrate on my work, plus I am spending about 16 hours a day on the computer at the mo. So whenever I feel my eyes going, or concentration, I have got up and either done 50 sit ups, crunches which only takes about 10 minutes, or used the bannister's to stretch my legs, the side of the bed to do those dip things for the old bingo wings, and the bottom step to do 100 quick step ups. I also now have taken delivery of my Davina DVD but can't justify the hour it will probably take to do it, but it will be done at some point!

I haven't read anyone elses yet, but hope you are all being slightly more successful than me, and will pop over - if there is no comment from me, it won't be for a lack of trying, I am having huge issues with commenting on anyone elses blog, and some people have said they can;t comment on mine either, so I need to try and resolve this when I have more of that stuff called time!

Oh poor u! i hate crappy weeks like that. Mine was half good, half bad, but to be honest i havent weighed myself(is that cheating slightly?!) as i would probably be more disappointed. I know what you mean about finding an hour for a dvd or workout, i find it nearly impossible, unless i choose to do it at 11pm! not gunna happen! You sound like you're doing so well though, really putting the effort in, so you should feel really pleased with yourself there!I sit at a desk a lot too, so know what you mean there. I have been wearing my ab-tek tummy trimmer belt(looks hilarious!) at the desk and i think it has trimmed the old mum tum down a bit! much less bloated, i would recommend, and easy to do at the desk.
Best of luck for this week! :)

Lets put it behind you and think positive for this week. I have started doing step workout to music channels on tv whilst holding 2 tins of beans!! sounds hilarious but my word I work up a sweat and have started feeling better. I have started at 20 mins my daughter is up to 45.

Good luck and thinking of you this week.

Don't panic!! The house gym really is the best way to get fit - it costs nothing extra, you don't have to 'dress' for it, it's always there and you don't have to worry about all those superfit chicks clad in lycra...
Try and get outside and do some stretches in fresh air too - ! find that quite invigorating!
Keep eating healthily and the weight loss will come.

Good luck xx

I'm sure you will be rewarded when you stand on the scales next week x

Well done! You could have easily thought sod it, and turned to food for comfort, but you didn't. Don't worry it will start to show if you stick to it, sometimes we can get so hung up on what the scales say, I think how we feel is far more important.

Hope you have a great week :) x

It might not seem like it now but you'll get there in the end, just keep trying, even if you're not losing masses of pounds on the scale at least you are changing to some healthy eating habits which will help significantly in the long run.
What are the bedside sit up things you mention for bingo wings?

Aww I know how you feel, I've had 4 weeks now of no chocolate (how this has happened I'm not sure!). Added to that the cutting down of alcohol, the upping of exercise etc, and I have I lost anything? nooooo! Exactly the same weight as when I started. So I feel your pain! I know what you mean about sulking - the last time I weighed myself and hadn't lost anything I thought 'sod it' and drank several classes of wine.. or it might have been a bottle.

rach-t - i like the sound of your belt, might have to think about one of those!
Dianne - I like your style and might try the tins trick, my latest is when the kettle is boiling instead of standin waiting for it, I am keeping my arms and legs striaght and kind of doing a fast aerobic running thing, and bloddy hell it is hard, I never knew a kettle took so long to boil!
NO Discernible talent - I have just drank rather too much woine especially for a school night but there you go! I think I manage a whopping 1lb this week!
Thanks QWERTY mum and carole for you encouragement!
Lynn the bingo wing things are where you stand with your back to say the bath, or bed and lower yourself down so you are holding your weight on your hands and then do backward push ups, meant to be very good for bingo wings, i think they are called bench dips. Holding tins and taking your left hand over the right shoulder and trying to lower it down your back is meant to have the same effect.
